Dog Soldier Press was founded in 1999 as a vehicle to facilitate the publication of Santana: War Chief of the Mescalero Apache. A positive experience with Santana was followed by the publication of 2 more BOOKS, Sharing the Gift of Lakota Song, Native American Healing: A Lakota Ritual, and Black Matter, a CD of original JAZZ VOCALS. Acquisition of our sister company High Star Productions' inventory in July 2009 expanded our product list to include a feature-length LAKOTA MUSIC VIDEO, a DVD chronicling the annual celebration of life in dance and song at DENVER MARCH POWWOW, 2 CDs of Lakota sacred songs that accompany our book Native American Healing, 4 CDs of POWWOW MUSIC featuring the popular drum group RED LEAF TAKOJA, and 1 CD of traditional LAKOTA WARRIOR SONGS featuring the Red Leaf Singers, unofficial song-keepers for the Sicangu (Rosebud) Sioux Tribe. An audiobook edition of Native American Healing and a CD of original and cover Americana music performed by Taos singer/songwriter Burton Jesperson and friends are coming soon.
